The Biomembrane NMR group at the University of Nottingham is a member of the School of Life Sciences. We are located at the Queen's Medical Centre adjacent to the University Parks campus. We and our web support team at SPELLSTONE wish you happy browsing!

Foreward

Living cells are the units of life and cell membranes form the interface of life. The structural base of membranes, the lipid bilayer, maintains electrical potentials and chemical gradients vital to the cell. Proteins, embedded in the lipid bilayer, mediate cellular transport of nutrients and bioprocessed solutes, as well as maintaining chemical end electrical communications between the cell and its surroundings. We use magnetic resonance, electron microscopy and neutron scattering to study the structure of biomembranes and how bioactive molecules regulate membrane structure and function.
